14 January 2019 – Book review by Aarti Govender © 2019 The Travelling Thought™ on “Moby Dick” by Herman Melville
“…I don’t like this cobbling sort of business-I don’t like it at all; it’s undignified; it’s not my place. Let tinkers’ brats do tinkerings; we are their betters…”
“Herman Melville was a man of the sea! He spent many years at sea and eventually began writing in 1840 and after 5 book publications, his masterpiece “Moby Dick” was published. As sad as it sounds, he eventually died in obscurity but for those of us who have read this, his writings and adventures with Captain Ahab translated to us have to be an all time great within our adventurous reading minds. After reading this, the words “Call me Ishmael” resonate repetitively in our minds in a different way each time we read it as it sets the pace for an adventure we wish to dream about until the end of time” – by Aarti Govender © 2019 The Travelling Thought™
